Fallen Princesses: Disney's Princesses in Our Shoes

Why is it that as little girls we are surrounded by the idea of a prince charming , being swept away from all the horrible things in life and that we will for ever be " Happily Ever After " .  Well Dina Goldstein had the same thought . She came up with the idea for Fallen Princesses after watching three year old little girls and there obsession with Disney movies and princesses . She has done what we as people see and go threw in a daily basis and put our beloved childhood characters in the real world in our shoes .

I know this is a Beauty Blog but i think what Dina has done here is an amazing thing . I have a love for Fairy Tales , not what Disney has put out to be a Fairy tale but the original Brothers Grimm. They are meant to teach lessons , they show you how bad it can be if things are done for the wrong reasons . It all about balance and as an adult i think we need to be sure to teach young girls as they get older that really there is no such thing as " Happily Ever After " , there will always be hard work and you will have to fight for what you want and believe in .

Thank you for reading and please be sure to check out Dina's pages . She is an AMAZING photographer and a beautiful person .

Tips on Melt Proof Makeup

Hello again lady's & gent's i know in other places summer is just starting but here in South Florida  we have been enduring the heat for months . Being a person with oily skin my makeup never seems to last . I'm lucky if  i make  it to lunch with foundation still on my face . So i thought why not put together a list of things that have worked for me and will maybe work for you .

- Prep your self

If you have oily skin or combination i have found that during the day skipping your moisturizer and using a good primer is key . I have tried all sorts of day time moisturizer's thinking that i HAD to use it and just had not found THE ONE . Think about it tho , we spend our time trying to cut down on the oil and moister to help the foundation/concealer stick around all day . Well adding more isn't going to help . If you use a good night time moisturizer i have found that my skin feels great all day . Now primer will lock in that feeling of refreshing thrice quenched skin yet give your foundation/concealer something to hold on to thought out the day .

-Whats your coverage ?

Skin is prepped and ready to go , what are my coverage options ?  Powder foundation , Matte foundation , Concealer on the trouble spots???
Really any of these will do . It all depends on your skin what you want to cover . Key points to keep in mind you want a something that will be able to handle long hours , high tempter and is transfer resistant . If you work out doors you may even want to go water proof. If you are going with a liquid keep in mind its day time work hours unless your job requires you look picture perfect , light applications . Lets not for get there is always concealer for those trouble spots .

-Multipurpose makeup

An easy way to avoid that dreaded overdone look is to you use a multipurpose product . Make that blush tint double as a lip stain , bronzer warm up those brow bones . This way its less you carry with you for touch ups and less to worry about .

-Blot don't wipe

Every one should carry blotting sheets with them . If you ran out or cant find them just keep the motion in mind . We want to dry up the shine and leave the make up , so don't wipe it away . Make sure you do this instead or before your powder your T-zone to avoid caked on make up .

Hope you find this helpful . Thanks again for reading and i love the feedback so be sure to leave comments on what works for you , i am always looking for new tips and tricks to learn.

Thanks

Bite into this summers new TrueBlood line by Tarte

So when i heard about this i wasn't really sure how i felt about it . I love Duwop's Twilight lip and cheek venom They work great, colors are wonderful and i thought it was a great way to market to the twilight fan base (myself included) . Now Tart has come out with a line based on the ever so popular TrueBlood book's and TV show . Here is what they came out with .

Tarte for True Blood™ Limited-Edition Palette
Contains :
-17 eye shadows
-True Blood™ EmphasEYES Aqua-Gel Eyeliner in Black
-True Blood™ Lights, Camera, Lashes! Mascara in Black

Tarte for True Blood™ Limited-Edition Natural Cheek Stain

Tarte for True Blood™ Limited-Edition LipSurgence™ Natural Lip Tint

I Love Tarte cosmetics , there a GREAT brand and come out with some amazing stuff , but for whatever reason this line just doesn't jump out at me . I don't know if its the packaging I'm not in love with or if its that i feel like i already have these colors . What i do know is that you can pick them up right now on there website as well as Sephora.

What are your feelings on this line? Will you be picking up anything? Let us know what you got and what you think .
Thanks for reading and be sure to subscribe . Please be sure to leave your feedback .

Review : Lush Dirty

( Note from the Editor: This is our very first guest blogger , my wonderful husband Peter . I wanted to get the best point of view on this and it being a men's line he got the job . Enjoy .)

I was recently recruited by my wife to be the guinea pig for LUSHs’ new “Dirty” line for men. We picked up a sampler pack that came with everything for $20 so I could see what I like. We were told that each item in the package contains one part of the overall “scent” that the others don’t have so that you don’t smell like a teenager who’s doused himself in AXE body spray before a hot date. (I’ve done it, so I know that musk.) I was hesitant about most of it, other than the body wash but was pleasantly surprised that not only did I like most of it, but that I’ll probably continue to use it. The body wash itself is like any other gel soap you can get really. It’s nothing outstanding and does what it’s supposed to do but it also doubles as a shampoo, and for my dry scalp it does wonders. Any generic or “brand name” soap/shampoo always dries out my skin and makes me itch like a dog with fleas.

The shaving cream threw me off a bit as when I applied it on in the shower, I could barely tell that it was there. It worked as good as any other “sensitive skin” gel or foam I’ve ever used but it left a residue on my blade that was a pain to scrub off. I actually had to use my nails to scrape it off to keep my hair from sticking to it. It did however, leave me cutless and without any need for a post shave moisturizer. Whether or not that’s worth the annoyance of having to hose down my blade afterwards remains to be seen. I keep my hair short so I really had no need for the styling gel, but decided to try it out on my mustache (which is actually longer than the hair on my head.) It holds well without being overly “sticky” like most product usually is. The cologne that comes with it was nice and not overly strong. I hate being able to “smell myself” whether it’s a good thing or bad thing. My only real big negative was the tooth tabs. You bite into these little tabs and when you add water they foam up. Aside from tasting like straight baking soda, they didn’t dissolve very fast so I was standing there looking like a tool for a few minutes just to get enough foam to brush with. Other than that, half the pieces didn’t dissolve and I wound up spitting them out anyway. I’ll stick to regular tooth paste, thanks Lush.
Overall, if you’re a guy or want your guy to smell nice and be clean then the Dirty products (other than the tooth tabs) are worth it. Not overpowering in the smell area, they keep you clean, and other than having to clean your razor well after usage there was no real issues with any of it. So check it out next time you swing by your local LUSH or order online.
