MUA Seminars & Classes

In December i enrolled in Boca Beauty Academy . You can say it was a head start on my new years resolution . I have always had a passion of makeup , beauty and art , i always did makeup as a hobby for friends family and myself . My closest friends and family have always pushed me to peruse a career as a MUA i just never really gave it much thought . Until this past December when thinking of ways for feather my future and take some time to work on myself .

I took a week of seminars with one of the country's best MUA Valentina Gonzalez . The week consisted of a three day boot camp in MUA  , two day air brushing course , Eye lash extensions and finished with bridal . The three day boot camp was a lot of things i already knew just from watching you tube and reading books , but having that hands on time with an experienced artist there is why i signed up. She showed us how to make it that much better , cleaner and polished .

Then came air brush , my new found love . Previous to this i had never tried out air brush on myself nor have i done it on others . The results you get are phenomenal , you achieve that flawless glowing finish with half the amount of product . We went over taking apart your gun and how to properly maintain it as well as what you can put threw it and how . We where set up with a Temptu Pro compressor and gun , there full foundation line and blush and highlighter set .

Eyelash extension's was something that i was unsure about until that day . The day was long and the processes was tedious . You have to have steady hands and lots of patience . You are fusing a single eyelash with a synthetic extension one by one till you build up the lash look of your client . The out come is stunning .  We learned how to properly , safely apply them and maintain them . 

  The last two days where spent on bridal makeup and we touched on hair briefly . I was surprised to learn that i really do enjoy the bridal aspect of the industry and i am quite good at it . We went over the most requested looks , trials , contracts and marketing . We combined all we learned and where put to the test in mock up interviews and trials . The picture below is my finished product .

For people who want to know if its work going to some sort of schooling or taking some in depth seminars i HIGHLY recommend it . Not only do you learn but you get to meet people just like you how are in love with this industry and what you can achieve . The things you learn will stay with you forever , you will build on them but to me more impotent are the contacts and friendships you will make with your fellow MUA's .

Must Haves

I wasn’t sure how to really start this post so I’m just going to jump right in. These are a few things that to me are must haves:

• Pressed Powder (Mac MSF Natural)

My skin has always been troublesome so for me it was imperative i find makeup that doesn’t cloge my pores or break me out. This is it. My holy grail, with the correct application you can get med. coverage or a light dusting to set your foundation or concealer. It is mineral makeup meaning its light weight will not break you out and it is super easy to apply and blend.

• Brush Cleanser

There are times when you can exactly wash your brushes, when that happens this is your best friend. You don’t want to use and use your brushes without cleaning or disinfecting them because all you will do is deposit all the oils and impurities that are on your brushes from the last time you used them back on your face and no one wants that. Brush cleanser is the best way to clean off the entire old product, oils and dust in between washing your brushes properly.

• Brushes

Now for brushes this was the hardest part because to me i need them all. lol I was able to narrow it down to 5 so here they are:

             -Foundation brush (sigma F80 Flat top kabuki)

Gives a Great flawless airbrushed look whether you use liquid or powder foundation.

             -Highlight brush (mac 188)

Great multipurpose brush. Highlight (liquid or powder), cream blush, powder blush, press powder can all be applied with this brush.

             -Shader brush (sigma E55)

Pack on color and blend it out. Can use it with cream or packed shadows, loose pigment or paints.

             -Tapered blending brush (sigma E40)

Want to blend out those harsh edges or apply a light dusting of color to your brow bone or crease.

             -Small angled brow brush (mac 208)

I love this brush because not only can you fill in your brows, get a great cat eye but also line your lips. Small dense brush to apply just the right amount of product where you need it.

• Eyelash curlers

I am pretty sure this is self-explanatory, who doesn’t want great curled up lashes, and I know I do.

•  Neutral eye palette (ud naked palette)

You can get this anywhere whether it is at your nearest drug store or department store. Small compact and has all the essential colors for a nice neutral look or great Smokey eye.

Last but not least

• Concealer (benefit Erase paste)

Have trouble areas, dark circles, blemishes, redness, discoloration or even if you just want to highlight an area concealer is your best friend. It’s good to give your skin a break from foundation so to do this i break out a little concealer for the problem spot and then set it if a little powder and your good to go.
